The Trafalgar Square Tree

OH, oH, Christmas tree In Trafalgar you rule green Of Norwegian tales you whisper Into air that becomes crisper Into ears of London crowds Who behold thy festive boughs Looking up, admiring thee By St Martin-in-the-Fields With sunflowers blooming dear Through the columns peeking near And the fountains’ singing voices Give some music us rejoices And the lions seem to dance To amuse the throngs of us Even column seems to bend For it’s tired to pretend That to Christmas it’s oblivious Magic sparkle is between us May it stay there day by day To aid kindness through times grey When the time to part will come We will miss you, each and all And await your re-appearance That to us gives much assurance
